Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment and facilities essential for the optimal operation of the company.
Maintenance Technician Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs as well as scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to the department supervisor.
Install and repair a wide variety of electrical equipment.
Maintains and repairs facility plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Maintenance Technician Skills and Specifications:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to safely operate and obtain certification to operate a fork truck.
Ability to safely operate an overhead crane.
Strong computer data entry skills.
Solid problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and diagrams.
Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
Has an understanding of HVAC systems.
Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
Maintenance Technician Education and Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Maintenance Technician Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of Maintenance Technician, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Maintenance Technician Work Environment:
While performing the duties of Maintenance Technician, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
