Joplin Concrete Company is hiring for a Batcher position. This position is responsible for batching ready mix concrete in a timely fashion as provided by the shipper or central dispatch office. Batching ready mix concrete in accordance with all job specifications and mix designs. Quality and consistency must be a priority. Order raw materials as required by your upcoming schedule. Perform necessary preventative maintenance and repairs on batch plant and associated equipment or areas around the lot. Operate wheel loader to keep batch plant stocked with raw material unless production schedule does not allow. Have value added products such as fiber, color, etc., etc. ready for production as needed. Test and record results on concrete, and aggregates. The ideal candidate would be one that posses a valid CDL and has the ability to drive a ready-mix concrete truck. Starting wage is dependent upon qualifications. JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to take initiative to increase the quality of one's skills to become more efficient.
• Make good judgment calls when under pressure.
• Perform mathematical functions pertaining to billing, volumes, and quantities.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to communicate with drivers, loader operators, salesmen, mechanics, quality control technicians in an efficient manner to aid in production.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written and oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to apply basic computer skills for batching concrete.
• Training or equivalent combination of education and experience that will provide the knowledge needed to perform the duties assigned with this position.
• Read, write and speak English.
• Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to deal with constructive criticism to improve your job performance.
• Travel to a different Joplin Concrete plant to batch or help with production as needed.
• Work long hours including early morning, nights, and weekends.

• Batch orders in a timely and efficient manner
• Opening and closing procedures for batch plant and associated equipment.
• Batch orders in a timely and efficient manner, work with dispatch to adjust truck demand to meet proper delivery rate.
• Perform batching of ready-mix, ensuring that proper design and job specifications are followed.
• Professionally work with dispatch to stay ahead of the planned schedule.
• Responsible for plant maintenance and repair. Inspect plant equipment and facilities for mechanical problems and other equipment malfunctions. Relay these problems to the general manager or the head of maintenance.
• Performs and records product testing on a scheduled basis.
• Maintain CDL if you had one when you are hired for this position.
• Occasionally drives Ready-Mix or dump truck as needed.
• Assist others in facility maintenance and safety tasks during slow or idle periods.

• Physical demand requires LIGHT level work:
  • Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
  • Up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or
  • A negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
• Constantly required to push / pull levers, turn steering wheel and press / release foot pedals while operating loader.
• Occasionally required to reach above shoulders and climb to get in / out of loader.
• Constantly required to sit while operating loader.
• Constantly required to hear sounds, and have clarity of near, far, and peripheral sight with depth perception.
• Requires balance and equilibrium when climbing ladder and on / off equipment.
• Continuously work in various weather conditions - hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, wind, etc.
• Occasionally walk / carry objects on varying terrain - paved, unpaved, dirt, rough terrain, etc.
