Description:

Summary/Objective
The quality specialist position inspects materials and products, parts and components for quality and conformance to specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Inspects purchased parts and raw material for conformance to specifications and quality standards; approves or rejects.
  • Inspects manufactured parts for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds, among other non-conformances and relays findings to supervisors for corrective action.
  • Reading and interpreting materials, such as work orders, inspection manuals and blueprints, to comprehend the quality expectations for the product; and to determine required inspection criteria, measuring tools and test procedures.
  • Performs first article, in-process, and final inspections per quality standards.
  • Maintains records of raw material, inspection results, calibration requirements and other information that pertains to the quality of product manufactured.
  • Assists production departments in determining the dispositioning of defective items in-house and the Purchasing Department on defective products from outside vendors.
  • Works with engineering on any problems discovered on blueprints and bill-of-materials and working with the Industrial Engineer on discrepancies with routers.
  • Uses precision measuring tools such as calipers, optical comparator, Cadillac gauge, surface tester, and various gauges to ensure correct dimension.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education and Experience

Associate degree or equivalent experience

Two (2) years of manufacturing experience in Quality Control or similar job function

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 1st shift - 7:00am to 3:30pm, or 2nd shift - 3:30pm to midnight, 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
